Fillings

Modern dentistry has allowed us at Lotus Dental to combine function and esthetics when doing fillings. Bonded restorations strengthen the teeth and blend with the tooth color making them nearly invisible after placement.

Fillings (restorations) are used to replace tooth structure after decay has been removed. Caries can be detected through direct observation or x-rays. Fillings are also used to repair fractured, broken, or severely worn teeth.

The dentist will proceed to cavity preparation, removing any remaining decay and shaping the final cavity. The next step will be the addition of composite-resin filling material, cured (hardened) with a curing light. The final step will be polishing the filling to adapt it smoothly to the natural shape of the tooth.

Composite fillings are very aesthetic restorations since they are available in natural shades matching tooth color.

A superior way to replace missing tooth structure is by placing an inlay/onlay on the tooth. These restorations are fabricated in our office in one visit. Inlays and onlays are made of porcelain or reinforced resin that does not shrink and they are extremely resistant to wear. Doctor George uses digital impressions and an in office milling unit to fabricate the inlays and onlays. The function and esthetics are second to none.
